Zack Snyder’s Justice League might come to theaters after all, and it’s likely to get a R-rating. That’s what Snyder himself says, revealing new details about his legendary slice of DC Comics’ superhero movie. The Snyder Cut series will be released next year as a mini-series on HBO Max. However, according to Snyder, WarnerMedia is also investigating the idea of a theatrical release.
Let’s start at the beginning. The Snyder Cut will contain a lot of new footage, and the duration of the new film will be just under four hours. That’s why it’s divided into a mini-series. All the new footage, as well as what Zack Snyder added during the shooting, gave it a tighter edge, it seems. This is what Snyder said in a recent interview.
POWERFUL : The return of Zack Snyder’s Justice League Mera showed Amber the super excitement
Here’s something no one knows: The film is crazy and so epic that it will probably get an R-rated version, that’s one thing that will definitely happen. We haven’t heard from the MPAA yet, but that’s my feeling.
The MPAA hasn’t made a decision yet, but if Zack Snyder guesses that this new version of the Justice League will be R-rated, it’s a safe bet. But perhaps the most attractive element for fans who are desperate to see Snyder’s vision come true is the fact that the director talks to the studio about some theatrical release. It remains to be seen exactly how that would work, but here’s what he had to say.
I’m a big fan and supporter of the cinema experience, and we’re already talking about the Justice League coming out at the cinema at the same time as the movie on HBO Max. It’s so weird that it’s a reversal.
WarnerMedia recently announced that the entire film will be released simultaneously on HBO Max and in cinemas in 2021. This approach has proved controversial. Anyway, it seems the studio could retroactively add Zack Snyder’s Justice League to that list. Knowing that they are spending $70 million more on a film that was originally a financial failure at the box office, it makes sense that they want to make the best of it. Speaking specifically about why the film might have a R-rating, Snyder said…
There’s a scene where Batman drops an F-bomb. Cyborg is not very happy about what happens in his life before he meets the Justice League, and he tends to give his opinion. And SteppenWolf cuts people to pieces. The classification is thus determined by violence and obscenity or both.
Zack Snyder left the Justice League for the first time while it was still in production. Joss Whedon stepped in and during his term of office there was a massive rewriting and rewriting. The theatre version released in 2017 did not correspond to Snyder’s original vision. The new version will contain the villain Darkseid, among many other changes. No publication date has yet been announced, but it is scheduled for early 2021. This news is coming to us through Entertainment Weekly.
