After a wild Saturday, the dust is beginning to settle on the college football scene. Michigan State is still undefeated, with a number of quality wins under its belt. South Carolina, on the other hand, is reeling after a loss to Texas. The Longhorns, on the other hand, are still clinging to their hopes for a BCS bowl. Meanwhile, Florida is looking to rebound from a tough loss to rival Alabama, but is still in good position to claim a spot in the SEC title game. And just when we thought the Big Ten conference races were winding down, it looks like Ohio State and Michigan will be slugging it out for the division crown.

The final round of the NCAA Tournament is always the most exciting. Because by now, all the best teams have been eliminated, and the ones that are left are the ones that are really good. It’s not like the other games, which are just there to fill the space between the more important ones. (And you don’t have to be a basketball fan to know that the Elite Eight lives up to its name.) So, after a whole weekend of NCAA action, we’re here to give you the scoop on who the teams are, where they’re from, and how they got to the Final Four.

Saturday’s 15-game NHL series was as wild as we expected: Six games had to go to extension or penalty kicks to determine the winner. The results of these games, like a motion-sensitive spotlight, have brought some clarity to the playoff race.

The New York Islanders earned their ticket to the postseason with a 3-0 win over the New York Rangers. It was the final regular season game between the two clubs at Nassau Memorial Coliseum, and Semyon Varlamov put on a good show for the small crowd, stopping all 28 shots.

On the other hand, the Ottawa Senators are officially out of the playoffs after losing in overtime against the Montreal Canadiens. Although the Suns are still developing a new group of young players, they have been a tough opponent for other Northern Division teams this season, and their future looks bright.

Now that the regular season is over, it’s time to look at the playoff race and the teams vying for a spot in the lottery for the 2021 NHL Draft.

Race to choose #1

The NHL uses a lottery to determine the order of the first round, so the team that finishes last is not guaranteed the first pick. In 2021, a team will be able to win a maximum of 10 places if it wins the draw, meaning only 11 teams will be eligible for the first draw. Full details of the procedure can be found here.
