The Panthers had a few good performances in the first half, but their MVP is captain Alexander Barkov, who does everything, and does it well. Honorable mention to Jonathan Huberdeau, who was almost as impressive.

Vincent Trocheck was a rock star in the first half of the season (13 goals and 24 points per game), but is now injured. Keep an eye on Sebastian Aho, he’s about to go into next-level mode.

Marc-Andre Fleury is the team’s MVP in the first half of the season, which is ironic considering the Golden Knights speculated on a trade this summer after giving Robin Lehner a long-term contract. They are the best goalie tandem in the league.

Captain Anders Lee was the first vice president. In addition to the team’s 12 goals, teammate Matt Martin praised Lee for his best showing in the league. Lee is unfortunately permanently out of the game due to a lower body injury. Next.

Kirill Kaprizov continues to be the Wilds’ star of the season, in part because he helps guard some games. Of the starters in the last 10 seasons, only four players have scored more points in 25 games than Caprizov’s 23 (which is also a franchise record for Minnesota).

The Penguins are in win-win mode because Sidney Crosby is still around. At 33, Crosby is still the team’s best player – he scored seven points during the recent five-game winning streak – but he’s holding his career scoring average in check.

There’s good reason to believe Charlie McAvoy is the Bruins’ first VP to take over the No. 1 defense and bring more offensive power. But the overall impact of Brad Marchand – and his 31 points in 25 games – is hard to ignore.

This may be the best hockey we’ve ever seen Connor McDavid play. For the age of 30. He scored his 50th goal of the season. Point this season, making it his second success in a row. The last player to do that for two consecutive seasons? Wayne Gretzky.

Andrew Mangiapane has made his mark this season, but Calgary’s MVP is his big offseason investment: Jacob Markstrom. Since Miikka Kiprusoff left Cyprus, the Flames are without a reliable goalie and will use Markstrom (19 appearances, .911 save percentage, two shutouts) as their workhorse.

Patrick Kane has reached the 1,000 game mark this season, and he shows no signs of slowing down. If Chicago stays in the playoffs, Kane will be in the MVP discussion. Kane is only behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in points, and he has 12 more points than any other Blackhawk.

If you’ve watched the Kings play this season, you’ve probably noticed that Anze Kopitar continues to dominate. It’s amazing to see, especially for someone of his height, said teammate Jeff Carter. New Jersey may not have had its best start in a decade, but there are some positives. A year ago, most Devils fans wouldn’t have minded selling Paul Zach. The 23-year-old now leads the team in points and it seems he wasn’t broken after all.

The Senators are not on most people’s mandatory watch list, but they do have a few players who can be watched legally. Brady Tkachuk (11 goals, 21 points in 31 games) is the best player for me. He leads the league in shots… by a wide margin.

Max Comtois got off to a good start, but suddenly Rickard Ruckell took over. The more he plays, the higher his trade value will be, but also the more illiquid the trade will be, as the asking price could be too high for most teams.

Not many Sabres have good seasons. Linus Ulmark is now out for at least a month with an injury. But after 12 appearances, his 5-4-2 record and .919 save percentage are hard to ignore – especially when he’s on such a bad team.
