Long live the Ryanverse! John Krasinski and his character Jack Ryan are getting a third season on Amazon, which has approved a development offer for the third season of Jack Ryan in February 2019. Paul Sherring, better known as the creator of Fox’s Prison Break, will be the new showrunner of Jack Ryan, beginning with the creation of season 3. The series will end with the retirement of Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) as showrunner in 2019 after developing Tom Clancy’s Restoration for television with its co-creator Graham Roland, reports Deadline.

In addition to the aforementioned crime drama Prison Break, which originally aired from 2005 to 2008 and was finally rebroadcast for one season in 2017 (with an option for another season), new presenter Paul Schering hosted the Discovery Channel miniseries Richard Madden in 2014, Frozen Jumpers, Klondike (with Jack Ryan or Abby Cornish), and ABC’s Zero Hour in 2013, which aired for one season only. In 2018, he starred in the series Thief’s Trap, with Gerard Butler, and in the 2003 action film Man in the Distance, with Vin Diesel.

The release date for season 3 of Jack Ryan has not yet been set, but we will keep you updated as much as possible. The last two seasons of the series began in the fall. Since shooting of the series will not begin until 2021 due to the Covid pandemic, a release in late 2021 or mid-2022 seems like the best option.

The latest addition to the cast of Jack Ryan for the third season is Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Blindspot). According to Deadline, Jean-Baptiste will play the role of Elizabeth Wright, the head of the CIA station. Jack Ryan, a former Marine, is now a CIA analyst tracking the funds of terrorist organizations. Abby Cornish and Wendell Pierce are close with Krasinski. Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers), Jordi Molla (Genius), Cristina Umaña (Narcos) and Francisco Denis have joined the cast for the second season. Of this group, Kelly, Adepo and perhaps Rapace will stay on board for a third season. We still don’t know if Katie Mueller (Abbie Cornish), the darling of season 1, will return to the series.

The character of Jack Ryan was created by designer Tom Clancy and first appeared in the novel The Hunt for Red October (1984). Until then, the Ryan series consisted of 28 books (mostly written by Clancy) featuring Jack Ryan or his companions. The character has appeared on screen several times and has been played over the years by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. Krasinski joined the team in his first season and is currently Jack Ryan’s main man.
