Jackson’s body, 38, was found around 11:30 a.m. and Monday at the Homewood Suites in Brandon, Florida. Police said there were no obvious signs of injury and that the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
The Hillsborough county sheriff’s department said it has launched an investigation.
According to hotel staff, Jackson, who lives in South Tampa, checked into the hotel on the 11th. of January and has been living in one of the rooms ever since.
Jackson’s family reported him missing Wednesday and an official report was filed Thursday, but police found Jackson Friday at the Homewood Suites. The missing persons case was dropped after Jackson’s well-being was confirmed.

He will be greatly missed, not only by football fans across the country, but also by the people of Hillsborough County who benefit from his generous donations.
The son of military parents, Jackson founded the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports military families. The foundation tweeted Monday that Jackson’s wife and family are asking that everyone respect their privacy during this time.
Jackson last played in the NFL in 2016 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he spent the final five seasons of his career. He ranks 4th in franchise history with 4,326 receiving yards and 10th with 268 receptions.
Owner and co-chairman of the Buccaneers, Bryan Glazer, said Jackson is an accomplished professional and that despite his accomplishments on the field, his greatest successes as a Buccaneer were the four consecutive Walter Payton Man of the Year nominations he received.

He played his first seven seasons with the Chargers, who selected him in the second round (61st overall) of the 2005 draft. He ranks eighth in franchise history for touchdown receptions (37) and 10th for touchdown receptions (4,754).
The Chargers said Jackson was a fan favorite not only for his Pro Bowl play on the field, but also for the impact he had on the community off the field.

Jackson totaled 540 catches for 9,080 yards and 57 touchdowns and was selected to the Pro Bowl three times in his career of 12 seasons.
